Bayou Texar Stormwater Treatment Enhancement Project to Begin May 5

Construction of the Bayou Boulevard, Perry, Blount, and Avery Outfalls at Bayou Texar Stormwater Treatment Enhancement Project will begin Tuesday, May 5. The goal of this project is to provide underground stormwater treatment units for three sub-basins that currently discharge untreated stormwater runoff into Bayou Texar.

The treatment units will be installed in the western right of way of Bayou Boulevard at its intersection with Perry Avenue, Blount Street and Avery Street. Stormwater inlets and piping will also be placed at the intersection of Bayou Boulevard and Blount Street. Residents will be provided access to their property during construction.

Construction is expected to take approximately 15 weeks to complete, weather permitting, and a city construction inspector will be monitoring the project progress daily.  Every effort will be made to minimize the impact to the residential area during construction, and the project contractor will be required to implement all necessary safety precautions and measures during construction.

The Pensacola City Council awarded a contract to J. Miller Construction Inc. of Pensacola.
